Open left return — common questions
The only difference is which end the return cap is on. Both kits include one nose piece and one mitered return cap. For the left kit, the cap wraps the left end of the tread. For the right kit, it wraps the right end. Both are priced identically at $75/tread.
Bring your stair count + 2 setup planks + 1 extra plank per 6 stairs for the return caps. For 12 stairs: 12 + 2 + 2 = 16 planks. Use our measurement guide plank calculator for a precise count.
Yes, mixed orders are common. In the quiz notes field, specify which stairs need which kit (e.g. "stairs 1–10 are boxed, stairs 11–14 need left return"). Victor will confirm when he calls back.
Mixed configurations are handled per-stair. Note the configuration in the order quiz (which steps are left-open and which are boxed) and send a photo. We'll fabricate the correct piece type for each individual step.
